Objective To assess the impact of physical parameters such as height and body mass on refractive status of preschool children. Methods A total of 354 children from a kindergarten in Chongqing participated in this survey.A Suresight automatic vision screener was used for binocular diopter examination under natural conditions;meanwhile
height and body mass were measured for all children.Data were collected and statistically analyzed. Results In all of these children
no significant difference was detected in the refractive status between left and right eyes(P>0.05).And the children’s refractive status did not vary significantly with gender(P>0.05).The binary Logistic regression analysis indicated that
height was a factor influencing the development of myopia in these children. Conclusion The incidence of ametropia seems to be high in preschool children
and thus it is important to perform eyesight screening for preschoolers
and implement effective measures for the prevention and treatment of ametropia in preschoolers.
