Objective To assess the effect of atorvastatin combined with antihypertensive drugs on ambulatory blood pressure and its variability in patients with hypertension. Methods A total of 120 patients with hypertension treated at a Sichuan hospital from February to October
2016 were included in this study.Patients were divided into the trial group(amlodipine plus atorvastatin)and the control group(amlodipine alone)by using a random number table
60 patients in each group. The clinical efficacy as well as the 24 hambulatory blood pressure and its variability were compared between the two groups. Results The overall response rate in the trial group reached 96.67%
which was significantly higher than that in the control group(76.67%
P <0.05).Before treatment
the 24 hambulatory blood pressure and its variability were comparable between the two groups(P>0.05);after treatment
these parameters were significantly lower compared with those before treatment in both groups
but with greater reductions in the trial group(P<0.05).Similar results were also obtained when we analyzed the daytime and nighttime ambulatory blood pressure and its variability
respectively.Conclusion In patients with hypertension
the addition of atorvastatin to antihypertensive drugs can effectively decrease blood pressure and improve blood pressure variability
which is worthy of widespread clinical application.
