Objective To assess the clinical efficacy of low-dose metronidazole combined with lactic acid bacteria in treating gestational trichomonas vaginitis. Methods A total of 140 women diagnosed with gestational trichomonas vaginitis were recruited from a Shenyang hospital during Sep.2014 to Mar.2016.Patients were randomized into the trial group(n=75
low-dose metronidazole+lactic acid bacteria vaginal capsule)and the control group(n=65
low-dose metronidazole alone). The total effective rate
the incidence of adverse events
the recurrence rate and the Short Form 36 Health survey Questionnaire(SF-36)score at 6 months were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate and the SF-36 score in the trial group were significantly higher compared with the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse events was similar between the trial group and the control group(1.33% vs.1.54%
P>0.05).At 6months
no relapse was observed in the trial group
while the recurrence rate was up to 18.46%in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Low-dose metronidazole combined with lactic acid bacteria is very effective in treating gestational trichomonas vaginitis
which may improve the quality of life of patients and deserve more widespread clinical use.
