Objective To investigate the status of cognition of the knowledge and behavior of myopia prevention of freshmen in a university of Guangdong and provide scientific evidence for the prevention for poor vision of college students.Method 693students including liberal arts students

science students and arts students were randomly selected with stratified-cluster sampling method.They were given a unified self-made questionnaire and conducted on-site investigation.Results For the cognitive level of myopia prevention knowledge

girls were higher than boys and the liberal arts students and science students were higher than the art students（P< 0.05）.In terms of the correctness of myopia prevention behavior

boys were better than girls and the art students were better than the liberal arts students and science students（P<0.05）.Conclusion The knowledge of myopia prevention needs to be further improved among freshmen in universities

the correctness of its prevention behavior is quite low

and the university

family and society should work hard together to improve university students’self-care awareness and the ability of myopia prevention.
