Objective To probe into the relationship between nutritional status and living habits of children in an attempt to provide a scientific basis for taking health measures for school-age children and promoting their healthy growth.Method 1 854students of Grade 1to Grade 6from 5primary schools in urban and rural area of Yuzhou were investigated by means of the method of stratified cluster random sampling;a survey was conducted using the self-prepared living behavior questionnaire;height and weight of the students were measured; the nutritional status was evaluated using weight-for-height standard recommended by WHO and a multiple correspondence analysis was conducted. Results Rate of malnutrition
normal nutrition
overweight and obesity was 5.26%
83.44%
8.31% and 2.99% respectively.Malnutrition was correlated with insufficient amount of staple food(P
<
0.01);normal nutrition was correlated with normal amount of staple food or insufficient amount of staple food and appropriate amount of snack without monophagia(meat
egg
milk and sweets)
hours of sleep 8
1
0h/d and time of exercise 1
2
h/d(P
<
0.01);overweight was correlated with monophagia
time of exercise
<
1h/d and hours of sleep
>
10h/d(P
<
0.01)while obesity was correlated with excessive amount of staple food and snack(P
<
0.01).Conclusion Nutritional status is closely related to living behaviors.Adjusting dietary structure
proper exercise and regular sleep are feasible ways to improve nutritional status of children and promote their healthy growth.
