Objective To have knowledge about the incidence of malignant tumor among teachers and staff members at universities in Nanjing so as to provide clues for researches on incidence regularity and prevention of malignant tumor in specific population.Method Monitoring data on incidence of malignant tumor among two universities in Nanjing from 2003to 2012were collected

the cases were encoded in light of international classification of diseases（ICD-10）

and incidence rate

age

time trend and species composition of the malignant tumor were analyzed.Results Generally

annual mean incidence rate of malignant tumor among two universities in Nanjing was 424.49/100 000during the last ten years;annual incidence rate in University A was 452.98/100 000while that in University B was 387.15/100000

and the differences were statistically significant（χ2=3.710

p<0.05）.Annual incidence rate of malignant tumor in the male at University A was significantly higher than the female

and the differences were statistically significant（χ2=25.08

p<0.01）.There was no statistically significant difference in annual incidence rate of malignant tumor between the male and female at University B（χ2=3.54

p>0.05）.Malignant tumors with incidence rate ranking in the top four at the two universities were lung cancer

colorectal cancer

prostate cancer and breast cancer.Incidence rate in teachers and staff members at the two universities in 2003was 284.96/100 000

which was increased to550.26/100 000in 2012.Conclusion Incidence rate of malignant tumor shows an increasing tendency in recent years

which has harmed the health of teachers and staff members in universities

so integrated prevention and control measures shall be taken to fight principal tumors such as lung cancer

colorectal cancer

prostate cancer and breast cancer.
