Objective To evaluate the effects of self-management on patients with hypertension in a certain university community.Method 101cases of patients with hypertension who volunteered for the project were divided into intervention group and control group randomly.Self-management was conducted on 51cases of patients with hypertension in the intervention group while 50cases in the control group received routine follow-up management. After six months
control of blood pressure and relevant knowledge and practice in patients from the two groups were compared. Results In the intervention group
while SBP and DBP in the control group were(155.54±9.30)mmHg and(89.08±7.32)mmHg respectively
differences between the two groups were statistically significant(p<0.05).Differences in awareness of hypertension-related knowledge and such self-management practices as relaxed mood
regular exercise
low-salt and low-oil diet between the intervention group and the control group were statistically significant(p<0.05).Conclusion Self-management conducted on patients with hypertension in the university community has obvious effects
which should be energetically advocated and promoted.
