Objective To have knowledge about the health status of freshmen in vocational colleges and to provide scientific basis for carrying out health education.Method Physical examination data of 10 166freshmen admitted in Tianjin College of Commerce from 2009to 2012were analyzed.Results Qualified rate of physical examination for freshmen in 2009

20.8%and 19.7%respectively.Positive rate of hepatitis B surface antigen（HBsAg）in freshmen of 2009was 2.6%.Diseases or abnormalities in freshmen of which the detection rate ranked top five were poor eyesight

cardiac abnormality and pulmonary tuberculosis with a respective detection rate of 61.1%

and the differences were statistically significant（p<0.05）.Conclusion Health status of freshmen in vocational colleges is not optimistic.Colleges should make great efforts to carry out health education and students should protect their eyesight
