Objective To investigate the epidemiological characteristics of hypertension among teachers and staff members in universities.Method Data related to investigation on health examination and epidemiology among teachers and staff members of a certain university in 2012 was counted and comparatively analyzed with the investigation result of 2008.Results Prevalence rate

treatment rate and control rate of hypertension were 29.9%

78.9%

71.3% and 44.0% respectively;prevalence rate of hypertension among the female was lower than the male

and awareness rate

treatment rate and control rate were all higher than the male;the prevalence rate was reduced

and the awareness rate

treatment rate and control rate were significantly improved compared with the result of 2008.Conclusion Teachers and staff members in a certain university are at high risk of hypertension

and the prevalence rate

awareness rate

treatment rate and control rate of hypertension are different among persons of different sex;the awareness rate

treatment rate and control rate of patients with hypertension among teachers and staff members in 2012 are significantly improved compared with 2008.
