Objective To have knowledge about variation features of prevalence rate of diabetes in the test group and probe into countermeasures to prevent and control diabetes.Method Detection results of fasting glucose（GLU） and 2 hours postprandial glucose in the physical examination for teachers from 2000 to 2010 were collected and analyzed statistically.Results For the last ten years

type 2 diabetes in the test group had onset by earlier ages.Detection rates in 2000

2004

2006 and 2008 were 3.04%

3.76%

3.93%

5.44% respectively

and in particular

the prevalence rate in 2010 surged to 9.42%.In the Year 2010

the detection rate in groups with people aged between 31 and 50 and over 71 years old has increased significantly compared to that in 2008

and the differences were statistically significant（p<0.05 or p<0.01）.Conclusion The prevalence rate of diabetes in teachers of college and university shows an increasing tendency year by year and there is a difference between different age groups.Early detection of impaired fasting glucose regulation in regular physical examination is helpful in preventing and controlling cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases

and it’s imperative to carry out health education on diabetes

and improve the lifestyle in order to control diabetes.
