Objective To explore the status of physical characteristics and functions of pupils in Jingpo ethnic group.Method 369 pupils in Jingpo ethnic group were randomly chosen to receive constitutional examination

and the results were compared between urban and rural pupils of the same age and gender.Results The heights of pupils of the same age from urban areas were higher than those of rural pupils;the differences between urban and rural pupils in male pupils aged 7

10 and 12 and female pupils aged 10

11 and 12 were statistically significant（P<0.05 or P<0.01）.As for the weights

pupils of the same age from urban area were higher than rural pupils except for the group of male pupils aged 12 and the group of female pupils aged 9;the differences between urban and rural pupils in male pupils aged 8

9 and 11 and female pupils aged 7

10 and 11 were statistically significant（P<0.05 or P<0.01）.The vital capacity of urban pupils of the same age was higher than that of rural pupils except for the group of male pupils aged 8 and the female group aged 9;the differences between urban and rural pupils in male pupils aged 7

8 and 11 and female pupils aged 7

10 and 11 were statistically significant P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusion Urban pupils of Jingpo ethnic group are widely better than rural pupils of Jingpo ethnic group in terms of physical types and functions.
