Objective To explore the relationship between Metabolic syndrome(MS) and the level of serum Alanine Aminotransferase(ALT).Method Check-up findings of 4004 faculty members at a university were collected with regard to MS and its relevant dangerous factors
and the relationship between MS and ALT was analyzed. Results The detection rates of abnormality in MS and ALT were 18.36% and 5.89% respectively;the detection rates of MS of male and female were 22.86% and 14.91% respectively. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.01);the detection rate of MS among those abnormal in ALT was 37.71
higher than that of those normal in ALT.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.01);the average value of ALT rises with the growth of MS abnormal figures. Conclusion The detection rate of MS and relevant dangerous factors in university faculty deserves concerns.ALT level rises with the growth of MS figures.
