Objective To explore Helicobacter pylori（Hp）infection status of college freshmen

and to provide evidence for prevention and treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection

chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer.Method Random samples of 2008 students’ 14C-urea breath were tested

and the results were andysed.Results The Hp positive deteltion rate is 42.93% of which the rates of male and female students are 49.15% and 40.29%;the rates of rural and urban students are 44.19% and 40.58%

Between male and female students and between rural and wrban students

the differences are not statistically significant（P>0.05）.Conclusion College students Hp infection rate is not low

and for the occurrence of upper gastrointestinal symptoms

Hp testing and treatment shonld be applied in time.
