Objective To explore the health education needs and methods of out-patients by intramuscular injection.Method Out-patients by intramuscular injection were investigated based on a self-made questionnaire about the basic knowledge

as well as the demand of educational contents and forms.Results Intramuscular injection of 300 cases of patients with lack of knowledge accounted for 94.3%;those in need of health education accounted for 83.0%.Content of education needs involved drug knowledge

knowledge of the disease

coordinated operation and treatment of adverse reactions.Forms of education demand included individual guidance

pamphlets

health promotion field

and image show.Conclusion Patients generally lack basic knowledge of intramuscular injection

and they heed health education.Nurses should take a variety of teaching methods to carry out health education to improve service according to the patient needs.
