Objective To learn the AIDS knowledge grasped by the freshmen in a certain college

and find a new effective way to promote AIDS prevention education.Method The AIDS Prevention Education Program was explained through using multimedia

and then the subjects were surveyed by the identical questionnaire.Results In terms of the main AIDS transmission routes

such as sex

blood

mother-to-child

the students’ awareness rates were both high before and after the explanation

they were between 88.24% and 94.30%

and the difference was not significant.And in respect of the questions whether AIDS can be transmitted by touching in daily life and whether mosquitoes and flies can transfer AIDS

the awareness rate after the explanation increased remarkably

the difference was of significance（p<0.05 or p<0.01）.As for the knowledge

attitude and behaviour about AIDS

the proportions of those who knew whether there are bacterins to prevent AIDS and that the correct use of condoms can prevent AIDS during sexual intercourse were increased from 75.66% and 64.53% to 81.87% and 79.63% respectively

there was significant difference（p<0.01

p<0.01）.Conclusion The offer and explanation of the Aids Prevention Education Program is an effective measure to make the freshers thoroughly understand the knowledge on AIDS.
