Objective To investigate expressions of Cyr61 and β-catenin and their relationship in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues and hepatoma carcinoma cells

and explore their roles in hepatocarcinogenesis.  Methods Expressions of Cyr61 and β-catenin were studied by immunohistochemistry in 32 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma

cells. Cyr61 mRNA and β-catenin mRNA were detected by RTPCR in hepatocyte L02 and hepatoma

cells. The relationship of their expressions were studied.  Results The expressions of Cyr61 protein and β-catenin protein were found in 65.63%（21/32） and 71.88%（23/32）of 32 patients

both Cyr61 protein and βcatenin protein were negatively expressed detected in 18.75% （6/32）and positively in 56.25%（18/32） respectively. Expression of Cyr61 protein was positively correlated with the expression of β-catenin protein (r=0.425

  P0.05). Expressions of Cyr61 and β-catenin at both mRNA and protein levels were found in hepatocyte L02 and hepatoma carcinoma cell HepG

co-expression of Cyr61 and β-catenin was 100% of all cells.  Conclusion Cyr61 and β-catenin are expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues and hepatoma carcinoma cells. Expression of Cyr61 is related with expression of β-catenin

and they may participate in hepatocarcinogenesis.
