Herpes zoster ophthalmicus（HZO）is a common special-site herpes zoster，which often presents with ocular herpes，pain，and ocular complications.Traditional Chinese medicine believes that it is caused by damp-heat toxins blocking the meridians or wind-heat pathogens attacking the head and face.In recent years，its incidence has been increasing year by year，and its complications include eye damage，central nervous system disease，vascular disease，post-herpetic neuralgia，and even stroke，which seriously affects the quality of life of patients and increases the medical burden.This article reviewed the epidemiology，clinical manifestations，diagno⁃ sis and antidiastole，traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment and prevention of HZO，in order to provide basis and refer⁃ ence for the treatment of HZO.
