Comparison of medial foot artery flap and transverse wrist flap for repairing finger defect
Objective To compare the clinical effects of repairing finger defects with medial foot artery flap and wrist transverse flap. Methods From July 2018 to January 2020
40 patients (30 males
10 females) with finger defects were randomly divided into two groups: group A and group B
with 20 cases in each group
which were treated with medial plantar artery flap and wrist crease flap respectively. The functional evaluation trial standard of Chinese Medical Association Hand Surgery Society was used to evaluate the grade: appearance rating
sensory rating and TAM rating. The results were statistically analyzed. Results All patients were followed up for 6 to 18 months. There was no significant difference in postoperative appearance score between the medial foot artery flap and the wrist transverse flap group (P > 0.05). In sensory rating, the medial foot artery flap was superior to the wrist transverse flap group (P < 0.05). TAM score was not significant between the medial foot artery flap group and the wrist transverse flap group (P > 0.05). Conclusion The medial foot artery flap has sensory advantage than the wrist transverse flap in repairing finger defect, but there was no obvious difference in appearance and function recovery.
