A clinical study of glucose-controlling diet in the treatment of type 2 diabetes
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of a glucose-controlling diet in the treatment of type 2 diabetes
and to provide a basis for its clinical application. Methods Sixty-two patients with type 2 diabetes admit⁃ted to our hospital were randomly divided into observation group and control group. In addition to original hypoglyce⁃mic treatment
the control group had a conventional diabetic diet
and the observation group had a glucose-control⁃ling diet (at lunch and dinner). The treatment cycle was 3 months. The two groups were compared in terms of clinical efficacy
symptom score
fasting blood glucose(FBG)
2-hour plasma glucose(2h-PG)after the oral glucose toler⁃ance test
and hypoglycemia incidence after treatment. Results The overall response rate showed no significant difference between the observation group and control group(87.1% vs 77.4%
P>0.05
by the chi-square test). The clinical symptom score of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.05). The observation group showed significantly better FBG
2h-PG
and HbA1c control than the control group(P < 0.05).The overall medicine reduction/with⁃drawal rate was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(58.1% vs 0%
P<0.05). No hypoglycemic events occurred in any group. Conclusion The glucose-controlling diet has a low glycemic index
and its formula conforms to the principle of syndrome differentiation-based dieting in traditional Chinese medicine. It can effectively stabilize and control the blood glucose level
reduce the use of hypoglycemic drugs
and cause no hy⁃poglycemic adverse reactions in patients with type 2 diabetes
showing significant advantages over the conventional diabetes diet.
