Bacteriophages were respectively found in 1915 and 1917 by Frederick Twort and Félix d’ Hérelle. The bacteriophages are the viruses infecting bacteria and so naturally of potential in anti-bacterium infec⁃tion. Under the austerity situation of antibiotics resistance
human can not have only one weapon in anti-infection. In 2016
14 Departments of China Government
including Ministry of Public Health and Development-reform Minis⁃try
issued“National Containment Plan of Bacteria Antibiotics-resistance”. The enforcement of this plan is only a start of human against bacterial resistance. The combat to bacterial resistance will be long-term battle. Under this situation
phagotherapy attracts again attention of mankind. In present paper
it will be focus on discovering history of bacteriophages
contribution of phages in scientific research
roles of phages in diseases treatment and roles of phages in agriculture
Industry
dietary hygiene and bio-hightech. We hope this review will benefit to the teach
sci⁃entific research and bacteriophage applications in various fields.
