Analysis on medication rules of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome based on data mining
Objective To investigate the medication features and prescription rule of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome based on data mining. Methods Related articles on TCM treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome which were published from January 2010 to March 2020 and met the inclu⁃sion criteria were searched to establish a TCM database, and the data mining technique was used to perform a statis⁃tical analysis of frequency, classification analyses of the nature, taste, meridian tropism, and function of TCM drugs, and association rule analysis, and a hierarchical cluster analysis. Results A total of 232 articles were in⁃cluded, with 702 medical records and prescriptions in total, which involved 303 TCM herbs with a total frequency of 10 490 times. The top 10 most frequently used TCM herbs were Angelica sinensis,China dodder seed,Poria co⁃cos,Rhizoma Cyperi,Rhizoma Chuanxiong,Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz, prepared Radix Rehmanniae,Ra⁃dix Glycyrrhizae,Salvia miltiorrhiza, and Radix Paeoniae Alba. The classification analysis of TCM function showed that deficiency-tonifying herbs and blood-activating and stasis-resolving herbs were the most frequently used herbs, followed by heat-clearing herbs,diuresis-inducing and dampness-draining herbs, and Qi-regulating herbs. The analysis of the nature, taste, and meridian tropism of TCM herbs showed that most of the commonly used herbs were warm, neural, sweet, and bitter in nature, and most of them had the meridian tropism of the liver(gallblad⁃der)meridian, the spleen(stomach)meridian, and the kidney(bladder)meridian. Commonly used drug combina⁃tions included Angelica sinensis-Rhizoma Chuanxiong,Angelica sinensis-prepared Radix Rehmanniae,Angelica sinensis-Radix Paeoniae Alba,Poria cocos-tangerine peel, and China dodder seed-Herba Epimedii. Conclusion TCM treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome is mainly achieved by tonifying the kidney+activating blood circulation+dredging collaterals, invigorating the spleen+removing phlegm+eliminating dampness, and regulating Qi+nourish⁃ing the blood+regulating the liver. Deficiency-tonifying herbs and blood-activating and stasis-resolving herbs are commonly used for treatment to give consideration to both Qi and blood, perform tonification and purgation in combi⁃nation, and simultaneously regulate the kidney, the liver, and the spleen, thus achieving the effect of activating and harmonizing the thoroughfare and conception vessels and regulating Qi-blood.
