Effectiveness of Participation of Pharmacists in Pain Management of Knee Replacement Under Accelerated Rehabilitation
OBJECTIVE: To observe the effectiveness of participation of pharmacists in pain management of knee replacement under accelerated rehabilitation. METHODS: From Jun. 2018 to Jun. 2021
120 patients underwent knee replacement in the orthopedics department of the hospital were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group
with 60 cases in each group. The control group received conventional pain management after surgery
while the observation group was given postoperative pain management with the participation of clinical pharmacists. Differences in postoperative pain scores
sleep quality
irrational drug use
adverse drug reactions
length of stay
and hospitalization cost were compared between two groups. RESULTS: The pain score and sleep quality indicators in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group from 1 to 7 d after surgery
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). After surgery
the irrational use rate of analgesics and incidence of adverse drug reactions in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group
the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Compared with the control group
the length of stay in the observation group was shortened from(14.4±4.2) d to(12.9±3.3) d
and the cost of analgesics per capita was reduced from(1 796.0±779.7) yuan to(1 030.3±409.7) yuan
the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Participation of clinical pharmacists in pain management can accelerate the patient recovery
effectively improve the postoperative analgesia and sleep quality
reduce the adverse drug reactions
shorten the length of stay and reduce the hospitalization cost.
