OBJECTIVE: To probe into the comparative analysis on effectiveness of Zaoren Anshen capsules and Wuling capsules in the treatment of elderly patients with insomnia

anxiety and depression. METHODS: Totally 218 patients with insomnia

anxiety and depression admitted into Liuzhou Red Cross Hospital from Jul. 2018 to Jul. 2020 were extracted to be divided into the Zaoren Anshen group and Wuling group via the random number table

with 109 cases in each group. The Zaoren Anshen group was treated with Zaoren Anshen capsules combined with Alprazolam tablets

while the Wuling group received Wuling capsules combined with Alprazolam tablets

both groups were treated for 28 d. Clinical efficacy

self-rating depression scale（ SDS） and the Medical Outcomes Study item short from health survey（ SF-36） score

serum substance P（ SP） and neuropeptide Y（ NPY） levels and the occurrence of adverse drug reactions of two groups were compared. RESULTS: The total effective rate of Zaoren Anshen group was 88. 99%（ 97/109）

significantly higher than that of Wuling group 77. 98%（ 85/109）

with statistically significant differences（ P < 0. 05）. The incidence of adverse drug reactions in the Zaoren Anshen group was 6. 42%（ 7/109）

significantly lower than 14. 68%（ 16/109）in the Wuling group

the difference was statistically significant（ P < 0. 05）. CONCLUSIONS: Compared with Wuling capsules

Zaoren Anshen capsules is more effective and safer in the treatment of elderly patients with insomnia

anxiety and depression.
