Clinical Study of Traditional Chinese Medicine Prescription Combined with Alendronate in the Treatment of Postmenopausal Osteoporosis
OBJECTIVE: To probe into the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine prescription combined with alendronate in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. METHODS: Totally 156 patients with postmenopausal osteoporosis admitted to Meizhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from Jun. 2018 to Jun. 2020 were divided into the western medicine group( n = 52)
traditional Chinese medicine group( n = 52) and observation group( n =52) according to the random number table. The western medicine group was treated with alendronate alone
the traditional Chinese medicine group was given traditional Chinese medicine prescription
and the observation group received alendronate combined with traditional Chinese medicine prescription. The bone mineral density( bone densitometer was used to detect the bone mineral density of L
2-4
Ward’s triangle and femoral neck respectively)
bone metabolism serum indicators [N-terminal osteocalcin( N-MID)
bone alkalinity phosphatase( BALP) and type Ⅰ procollagen N-terminal propeptide( PⅠNP) ]of three groups were compared before and after treatment
and the visual analog scale( VAS)
osteoporosis quality of life score( OQOLS)
efficacy and adverse drug reaction were recorded. RESULTS: The total effective rate of the observation group was 96. 15%( 50/52)
higher than 76. 92%( 40/52) and 82. 69%( 43/52) of the western medicine group and traditional Chinese medicine group
the difference was statistically significant( P
<
0. 05). Compared with before treatment
VAS score of three groups decreased and OQOLS score of three groups increased after treatment
and VAS score in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the western medicine group and traditional Chinese medicine group
and OQOLS score in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the Western medicine group and traditional Chinese medicine group
with statistically significant differences( P
<
0. 05). After treatment
the bone mineral density of L
2-4
Ward’s triangle and femoral neck of three groups were significantly higher than those before treatment
and the bone mineral density of L
2-4
Ward’s triangle and femoral neck of the observation group after treatment was significantly higher than those of the western medicine group and traditional Chinese medicine group
the differences were statistically significant( P
<
0. 05). After treatment
the levels of N-MID in three groups were lower than those before treatment
and the levels of BALP and PⅠNP were higher than those before treatment
the improvement of each indicator in the observation group was better than that in the western medicine group and traditional Chinese medicine group
the differences were statistically significant( P
<
0. 05). The incidences of adverse drug reactions in the western medicine group
traditional Chinese medicine group and observation group were respectively 9. 62%( 5/52)
7. 69%( 4/52) and 5. 77%( 3/52)
the difference was not statistically significant( P
>
0. 05). CONCLUSIONS: The efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine prescription combined with alendronate in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis is significant
which can effectively promote the growth of bone mineral density
improve the bone metabolism
reduce the pain degree and improve the quality of life of patients
with few adverse drug reactions.
