Efficacy of Kanggan Granule Combined with Ribavirin in the Treatment of Hand Foot Mouth Disease in Children and its Effect on Immune Function and Inflammatory Factor
OBJECTIVE: To probe into the efficacy of Kanggan granule combined with ribavirin in the treatment of hand foot mouth disease( HFMD) in children and its effect on immune function and inflammatory factors. METHODS:Totally 122 children with HFMD admitted into Jiangnan Branch of Chongqing Three Gorges Central Hospital from Mar.2017 to Jul. 2019 were selected and divided into control group( 61 cases
treated with ribavirin) and research group( 61 cases
given Kanggan granule combined with ribavirin) via random number table. Differences in symptom improvements
efficacy
immune function( CD3+CD4+
CD3+CD8+
CD4+/CD8+)
inflammatory factor [solubility intercellular adhesion molecule-1( s ICAM-1)
hypersensitivity C reactive protein( hs-CRP) and tumor necrosis factor α( TNF-α) ]level and incidences of adverse drug reactions were compared between two groups. RESULTS: The recovery times of appetite
herpes
oral ulcers and body temperature of the research group were significantly shorter than those of the control group
with statistically significant differences( P < 0. 05). The clinical total effective rate of research group was 95. 08%( 58/61)
which was significantly higher than that of the control group( 80. 33%
49/61)
with statistically significant difference( P < 0. 05). After treatment
the CD3+CD4+and CD4+/CD8 levels of both groups had been significantly increased
while the CD3+CD8+levels were significantly decreased; the CD3+CD8+levels of research group was significantly lower than those of the control group after treatment
while the CD3+CD4+and CD4+/CD8+levels were significantly higher than those of the control group
with statistically significant differences( P <0. 05). After treatment
the serum s ICAM-1
hs-CRP and TNF-α levels of both groups were significantly decreased
and those of the research group were significantly lower than the control group
with statistically significant differences( P < 0. 05). The incidences of adverse drug reactions of research group and control group were respectively16. 39%( 10/61) and 14. 75%( 9/61)
the difference had no statistical significance( χ2= 0. 062
P = 0. 803).CONCLUSIONS: The efficacy of Kanggan granule combined with ribavirin in the treatment of HFMD is remarkable
which can rapidly improve children’s clinical symptoms and immune function
reduce inflammatory factor level
with good medication safety.
