Efficacy of Low-Dose Adrenocorticotropic Hormone in the Treatment of Infantile Spasms
Objective: To probe into the efficacy of low-dose adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in the treatment of infantile spasms. Methods: Retrospective analysis was adopted
67 children with infantile spasms were divided into 34 cases in the observation group and 33 cases in the control group according to the treatment regimens
and were respectively treated with low-dose ACTH of 1 U/(kg·d) and sodium valproate syrup with initial dose of 15 mg/(kg·d). After two weeks of treatment
the clinical efficacy of two groups was observed. Gesell developmental scale test was performed after treatment of 2 months. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was 79.41%
higher than 45.45% of the control group (P<0.05). Gesell developmental scale test showed that the improvement rate of children’s adaptability in the observation group was 73.53%
higher than 30.30% in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Low-Dose ACTH of 1 U/(kg·d) is more effective than sodium valproate syrup in the treatment of infantile spasms
which can be the reference choice for pediatric neurologists in the treatment of infantile spasms
