Manufacture and application of the intracranial embedded insulated electrode
Objective:To recommend a kind of intracranial embedded insulated electrode
and to use it to acquire classical eyeblink conditioning and record field potential of the cerebellar interpositus nucleus in guinea pigs.Methods:A kind of intracranial embedded insulated electrode was designed and made.It was fixed into the skull by surgery and the tip of it was in the guinea pigs right prefrontal cortex or left cerebellar interpositus nucleus.The conditioned stimulus(CS) was a right prefrontal cortex electrostimulation(electrostimulation group
n=6)or an tone(tone stimulation group
n=6) and the unconditioned stimulus(US) was a corneal oxygen-puff
the CS was paired with the US
the guinea pigs were trained for 10 consecutive days and the field potential of the left cerebellar interpositus nucleus were recorded.Results:Both groups of guinea pigs successfully acquired classical eyeblink conditioning and the left field potential of the cerebellar interpositus nucleus was recorded successfully;furthermore
the total electrodes which were fixed on the skull did not drop in the experimentation stage.Conclusion:The tip and clamping department of the electrode have good electrical conductivity;its body has excellent insulation
and it can be fixed stably on the skull;furthermore
a prefrontal cortex electrostimulation(CS) paired with a corneal oxygen-puff(US) to train guinea pigs also can acquire classical eyeblink conditioning.
