The clinical effect upper molar distalization by mini-implant and sectional arch wire technique
Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of maxillary molars distalization by mini-implant and sectional arch wire technique.Methods:12 subjects with Angle class Ⅱ malocclusion and anterior crowding were selected.Sectional arch wire technique was used to make molars alignment. Then mini-implants were used as anchorage to push maxillary molar distalization.Lateral cephalometric radiographs were used to assess the alteration of maxillary molar position and craniofacial hard tissue before and after molar distalization. Results:All subjects achieved desired treatment efficacy.Maxillary molars moved about 4.35 mm.No anchorage loss of maxillary anterior teeth was discovered during the treatment. All the mini-implants were stable and peri-implants were healthy.Conclusion:Mini-implant anchorage and sectional arch wire technique are effective for maxillary molar distalization
which expands the applications of mini-implants anchorage in the distal movement of maxillary molar.
