Objective:To study the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects of compound Musk eye drops.Methods:The models of swelling caused by agar in rat metatarsal and by cotton ball granulation in mouse were respectively adopted to observe the acute and chronic anti-inflammatory effects of compound Musk eye drops.Tube doubling dilution method was also adopted to investigate the vitro antibacterial activity of compound Musk eye drops on clinic ophthalmic inflammation induced by common pathogenic bacteria.Results:Both large and middle doses of compound Musk eye drops significantly mitigated rat metatarsal swelling caused by agar

with remarkable difference from the blank group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Only the large doses of compound Musk eye drops inhibited the swelling caused by cotton ball granulation

with statistical difference from the blank group(P<0.05

P>0.01).Compound Musk eye drops proved to have certain degree of antibacterial effect against both common gram positive and gram negative bacterium.Conclusion:Compound Musk eye drops has evident anti-inflammatory effects and some anti-bacterial effects.
