The dynamics of blood supply of animal experimental study for simultaneous mandibular sagittal split osteotomy and mandibular angle plasty
Objective:To observe postoperative blood supply in rabbits operated with simultaneous mandibular osteotomy and masticatory muscle dissection to simulate mandibular sagittal split osteotomy(SSRO)and mandibular angle anaplasty
and compare it with blood supply in rabbits operated by mandibular ostotomy
then assess the feasibility of the synchronized surgery.Methods:10 healthy New Zealand white rabbits were selected and randomly divided into two groups:the experimental and control group. For the experimental group
simultaneous mandibular osteotomy and masticatory muscle dissection were performed on one side of mandible and the opposite was done without surgery.Mandibular osteotomy were performed in the control group
and the opposite was done without surgery. Then the blood flow at the surgical side in both groups was observed at 72 hours
1st week
4th week
6th week and 8th week after surgery. Results:The changes of postoperative blood flow between two groups were similar;there was no significant difference. The blood flow of the bone segment could recover. Conclusion:Mandibular osteotomy and masticatory muscle dissection can be operated synchronizedly
and the postoperative blood supply will return to normal at the bone ends.
