Study on pre-operative prophylactic antibiotic administration in operating room
Objective:To explore the performance and major influencing factors of pre-operative prophylactic antibiotic administration(1 hour before skin incision making)carried out by OR nurses
so as to take effective intervention. Methods:Interviews and observations were adopted on OR nurse while they administer prophylactic antibiotics
and the feedback was evaluated and analyzed.Results:118 cases were observed randomly.57 were positive;50 of them carried out correctly according to the application guide after intervention;7 were cancelled by the surgeon. The rate of application within 1 hour prior to incision making in this group was 94.07%.79 OR nurses were interviewed.72% of them mentioned knowledge deficits;57.62% mentioned communication between doctors and nurses;and 27.5% didn’t know their roles and importance of prophylactic antibiotic administration well. Conclusion:It is necessary to strengthen nurses’ cognition of prophylactic antibiotic administration
to enhance their knowledge
to formulate effective antibiotic application process and to stress teamwork and effective communication.
