Distribution of fasting glucose levels of adult residents in Chongqing
Objective:To study the distribution of blood glucose among adult residents in Chongqing through analysis of the health data of different gender and age groups. Methods:From January 1st
2009 to October 31
2009
a cluster stratified sampling method was adopted
including 20 000 people aged 19 to 60 years in Chongqing.Subjects were divided into 4 groups by age:18~29 years of age
30~39 years of age
40~49 years of age
and 50~59 years of age;2 groups by sex:male group and female group;2 groups by place of residence:urban areas and non-urban areas.Fasting blood glucose was measured. Results:Compared with non-urban areas population
the proportion of impaired fasting glucose decreased significantly in urban areas(13.35% vs 4.94%
P<0.01);the proportion of impaired fasting glucose in males was significantly higher than in females(8.89% vs 3.72%
P<0.01);the proportions of impaired fasting glucose were significantly different among four age groups(P<0.01)the proportion of.impaired fasting glucose increases with age growing. Conclusion:The residence area
gender and age have significant impact on impaired fasting glucose in Chongqing adult population
and middle-aged men of non-urban areas have significantly increasing level of fasting blood glucose.
