Adherence with dual antiplatelet therapy and its influence on clinical outcomes in patients after undergoing percutaneous coronary stenting for 1 year
Objective:To investigate the adherence with dual antiplatelet therapy and its influence on clinical outcomes in patients after undergoing percutaneous coronary stenting for 1 year.Methods:The follow-up was performed in 547 patients undergoing coronary stenting in our department from February 2007 to February 2010
including the adherence of antiplatelet therapy and its correlating factors and the influence on clinical outcomes.The statistical package for social science(SPSS)17.0 was used for analyze all the statistics.Results:At follow-up
315 patients(63%)maintained adherence to the dual antiplatelet therapy
82 patients(16.4%) and 71 patients(14.2%)respectively took aspirin and clopidogrel alone.There were 32 patiens(6.4%)who completely discontinued all antiplatelet agents.The age(P=0.024)
educational level(P=0.034)
medical payment(P=0.000)and the comorbidities(P=0.004) have effect on medication adherence.During 1-year follow-up
the accumulated incidence of MACE and target vessel revascularization(TVR)in aderent group was lower than that of non-adherent group(P=0.007
P=0.024
respectively).Conclusion:In clinical practices
the adherence with antiplatelet therapy in patients undergoing coronary stent implantation was poor.The age
educational level
medical payment and the comorbidities have effect on medication adherence
and non-adherence to antiplatelet therapy is considered as importent risk factors for MACE and TVR.
