The effects of rosiglitazone on the expressions of NF-κB and COX-2 in rats with focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury
Objective:To investigate the effects of rosiglitazone on the expressions of NF-κB and COX-2 in rats with focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. Methods:SD rats were randomly divided into four groups:sham group
model group
low-dose(2 mg/(kg·d)) and high-dose(4mg/(kg·d)) rosiglitazone group.Infarct volume and the expressions of NF-κB and COX-2 protein were measured in the rat brain. Results:Compared with the model group
rosiglitazone reduced the cerebral infarction volume significantly(P<0.05)
and the effect of high-dose was more predominant than that of low-dose(P<0.05).Rosiglitazone also decreased the expressions of NF-κB and COX-2 protein greatly(P<0.05)
and high-dose group showed significant difference with low-dose group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Rosiglitazone can significantly reduce the infarct volume and the expressions of NF-κB and COX-2 in rats with focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.Rosiglitazone has a neuroprotective effect on cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.
