Prevalence and related factors of stress urinary incontinence among Hebei females
Objective:To evaluate the prevalence and related factors of stress urinary incontinence(SUI) in Hebei Province. Methods:A total of 2 500 females
at the age of 20 years or older and with different occupations
were randomly sampled from Shijiazhuang
Baoding and Xingtai in Hebei Province
then were interviewed by face-to-face inquiry using a well-designed questionnaire.Data analysis was performed with SPSS13.0 and SAS8.1 statistical software. Results:The number of the valid questionnaires was 2 448
with 1 485 in city
963 in countryside. The prevalence of SUI was 26.4%(647/2 448) in the three regions of Hebei.Only 40 of these incontinent females consulted a doctor for help.25 factors were demonstrated statistically related with SUI and the prevalence increased gradually correlated with body mass index
gravidity and abortion times. In multivariable logistic regression
10 factors
for example age
were demonstrated as more important. Conclusion:SUI is a common and multifactorial disease among females in Hebei Province
but only a few of them have visited doctor.Linear trend was found between SUI and body mass index
gravidity and abortion times.Lack of SUI-related knowledge and economic condition are the main factors to prevent patients from seeing a doctor.
