Combined determination of SCCA,CYFRA21-1 and CEA in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid for lung cancer diagnosis
Objective:To investigate the clinical value of combined determination of tumor markers including squamous cell carcinoma antigen(SCCA)
cytokeratin 19 fragment(CYFRA21-1)
carcino-embryonic antigen(CEA) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF).Methods:62 cases including 44 cases of lung cancer and 18 benign lung lesion were collected from inpatients registered in our hospital from January to April in 2008.The lung cancers were pathologically diagnosed including 5 cases of small cell lung cancer
17 cases of squamous cell carcinoma
15 cases of adenocarcinoma
and 5 undetermined type lung cancer. All cases were bronchoalveolar lavaged and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid were collected to detect SCCA
CYFRA21-1
CEA.Results:The levels of the 3 tumor markers measured in BALF were much higher in lung cancer group than that in benign lung disease group(P<0.01)and they were higher in patients in stage Ⅲ and Ⅳ than those in stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ.The tumor markers increased to different degrees among the patients in various pathological types. The levels of SCCA 、CYFRA21-1 measured in BALF were much higher in squamous cell carcinoma group(P<0.01)
and the levels of CEA were much higher in adenocarcinoma group. Conclusion:The measurement of the 3 tumor markers in BALF may help the diagnosis、pathological classification and prognosis evaluation of lung cancer.
