The clinical application of the end dorsal branch artery island flap
Objective:To explore the clinical effect on the end dorsal branch artery island flap to treat the soft tissue defects of distal phalanx. Methods :The end dorsal arterybranch retrograde island flaps were transferred or combined with other flaps totreat the soft tissue defects in 25 distal phalanxes. Results:19 flaps of fingers survived well;3 flaps necrosed partly
the wound healed by changing the dressing;2 flaps necrosed completely
then other flaps were choosed to treat the defects. The flaps were followed up for the average of 13 months
and the contour and function of the injured digits were satisfied. Conclusion:The end dorsal branch digital artery island flap which reserve fingers’main blood vessel can be used to repair the soft tissue defects of distal phalanx
so we think the flap is a good donor for the injuries of distal phalanx.
