Effects of metformin and rosiglitazone in the treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome with insulin resistance
Objective:To compare the treatment effects of rosiglit azone and me-tformin on endocrine and metabolism in polycystic ovarian syndrome’s(PCOS)patients with insulin resistance.Methods:45 PCOS’s patients were randomly divided into two groups and each group was given rosiglitazone or metformin for 4 months.Changes of body mass index(BMI)
endocrinal hormone and blood lipids were analyzed before and after treatment. Results:There was remarkably decrease in the level of testosterone(T)
luteinizing hormone(LH)
LH/FSH
fasting insulin(FINS)
2 h insulin(2hINS)
2 h plasma glucose(2 hPG)and Homa IR between two groups after treat ment. But BMI was decreased after using metformin
and the level of T
FINS
2 hINS
homa IR were more efficiently decreased after using rosiglitazone. Conclusion:Rosiglitazone
which had better effects on improving insulin resistance and glucose metabolism
affects more conspicuously insulin resistance and hyper insulinemia; While mefformin
which can reduces weight
is suitable for fat PCOS patients with not serious insulin resistance.
