Predicting value of arterial pulse wave velocity for the patients with coronary artery disease
Objective:To investigate the predicting value of arterial pulse wave velocity for the patients with coronary artery disease. Methods:BaPWV and ABI were measured in 67 patients with coronary artery disease and 72 patients without coronary artery disease confirmed by coronary artery angiography
67 patients with coronary artery disease were divided into three groups according to the number of affected coronary branches:single branch affected group(n=22)
double branches affected group(n=27)
and three branches affected group(n=18).Results:BaPWV was significantly increased in patients with coronary artery disease(1978.6±289.5cm/s vs 1267.4± 332.8cm/s
P<0.01).baPWV of the patients with single branch of vascular disease
two branches of vascular disease
and three branches of vascular disease were 1493.7±282.4cm/s
1897.2±322.3cm/s
and 2319.6±372.2cm/s
respectively.baPWV increased with the number of diseased vessles(P<0.05).Conclusion:BaPWV could predict coronary artery disease to some degree
and elevated baPWV is related to the severity of coronary artery disease.
