Expression of sunvivin and p53 in cervical carcinoma and its clinical significance
Objective:To investigate the clinical significance of the expression of Survivin and p53 in cervical carcinoma.Meth- ods:Expression of Survivin and p53 in sixty paraffin-embedded specimens of cervical carcinoma patients were examined by us- ing the immunohistochemistry method. Results:The positive expressions rates of Survivin and p53 in sixty cervical carcinoma specimens were 90%
53.33% respectively. The positive expressions of Survivin were not associated with age
differentiation grade
neoadjuvant chemotherapy and lymph node metastasis
but were highly associated with clinical stage. The positive expres- sions of p53 were not associated with age and differentiation grade
but highly associated with clinical stage
neoadjuvant chemotherapy and lymph node metastasis. The positive rate of the co-expression of Survivin and p53 in sixty specimens was 51.67%
and it was especially higher in the patients who experienced neoadjuvant chemotherapy(85%)or had lymph node metastasis(91.67%).Conclusions:The expressions of Survivin and p53 in cervical carcinoma might cooperatively play an im- portant role in the progression and deterioration of cervical carcinoma.
