Objective ;To investigate the common causes of re -operation for cardiac disease and explore the suitable time .indication and method of re - operation. Methods: The medical records of 16 cases of re - operation were reviewed and analyzed. 7 cases were re -operated for residual shunt;8 patients under went valves replacement for previous valve disorder. 1 case was operated for correction of Ebstein’s anomaly . Results: 2 patients died . 1 patient had heart injury at the chest openning . Conclusions; The main causes of re - operation were correction of residual shunt and valves replacement for previous valve disorder. The risk for re - operation is high
