Clinical efficacy of telmisartan in patients with mild to moderate hypertension
Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of telmisartan in patients with mild to moderate hypertension by observing the 24 hour mean blood pressure before and after treatment respectively.Methods:Twenty-six patients with mild to moderate hypertension took telmisartan 80mg once daily. After the treatment of telmisartan
ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) was done. Results:After administration of telmisartan
24 hour mean blood pressure
blood pressure in the day and night decreased(P<0.01).The daily and the trough/peak ratio of diastolic blood pressure(DBP) and systolic blood pressure(SBP)were 63.5% and 70.4%.Conclusion:The effect of telmisartan once daily can maintain for 24h.The trough/peak ratio is satisfied.Telmisartan 80mg once daily is effective and safe in patients with mild to moderate hypertension.
