Randomized controlled study on gatifloxacin and levofloxacin injectionin the treatment of acute gonococcal urinary and reproductive tract infections
Objective:To study the efficacy and safety of gatifloxacin injection in the treatment of acute gonococcal urinary and reproductive tract infections. Methods:Taken levofloxacin as control
a double-blinded
randomized-controlled clinical trial was conducted.A total of 38 patients were enrolled (19 in trial group
19 in control group). The regimens were as follows:Either gatifloxacin or levofloxacin 0.2g
iv
twice a day for 7~14 days. Results:The cure rate
effective rate and bacterial clearance rate for trial groups were 100%
and those for control groups were 96.2%
100% and 100%
respectively. The mycoplasma and chlamydia clearance rates for trial groups were 100%
and those for control groups were 85.71% and 100% respectively.Statistic analysis did not show significant differences between the two groups ( P >0.05).No adverse effects were observed in both groups. Conclusion:The efficacy and safety of gatifloxacin are similar to those of levofloxacin in the treatment of acute gonococcal urinary and reproductive tract infections.
