Change of cytochrome oxidase activity in retina of monocular deprived rats
Objective:To study the changes of cytochrome oxidase (CO) activity in retina of monocular deprived rats. Methods:Deprived amblyopia rat model were established by suturing the eyelids of observed eye of 14 days old rats for one month. The retina stretched preparation were processed with CO histochemical reaction and the number of CO positive retina ganglion cells were studied under light microscope. Results:The number of CO positive retina ganglion cells decreased in deprived eyes compared with control eyes( P <0.01).Conclusion:During the developmental sensitive period of visual system
monocular depriving could induce the decrease of the number of CO positive retina ganglion cells of the deprived eye of rats.
