A randomized comparative study of gatifloxacin and levofloxacin injection in the treatment of bacterial infections
Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of gatifloxacin injection in the treatment of moderate and severe bacterial infections.Methods:25 patients in study group were treated with gatifloxacin 200mg iv q12h and 25 patients in control group with levofloxacin 200mg iv q12h for 5 to 14 days. Results:The cure rates and the effective rates of the two groups were 64%
56%(P>0.05) and 92%
88%(P>0.05)
respectively. The bacterial positive and eradication rates of the two groups were 96%
68% and 100%
100%
respectively.Sensitivity rates of 41 bacterial strains to gatifloxacin
levofloxacin
ciprofloxacin
sparfloxacin
cefataxime were 100%
95.12%
92.68%
97.56%
respectively.Adverse events were generally mild.Adverse events rates of the two groups were 30.77% and 20%(P>0.05)
respectively. Conclusion:Gatifloxacin injection is a highly effective and well tolerated antibacterial agent for the treatment of moderate and severe bacterial infections.
