Comparative study of intracranial meningiomas between MRI findings and pathological types
Objective:To evaluate the relationship between MRI features and pathological types of intracranial meningomas.Methods:32 cases of meningoma which were proved by operation and pathology were compared with their MRI features and pathological types. Results:All of the 32 cases were single tumor
The lesions were located in frontal
parietal
and occipital regions nearby the convexity of the brain in 18 cases
at sphenoidal crest in 8 cases
at olfactory sulcus in 4 cases
and in sellar region 2 cases.MRI manifested that 13 cases had their intergral capsules
peri-tumor edema was found in 29 cases
dural“tail” sign was present in 9 cases
calcification in the tumors were found in 3 cases and vascular flow void features was seen in 5 cases
20 cases appeared homogeneous enhancement. Conclusion:It is of great value in presenting the location of meningoma with MRI.Combination of several MRI features could be used to figure out the pathological type of meningoma by a comprehensive analysis.
