Clinical efficacy and safety evaluation of cefdinir in the treatment of skin and soft tissue bacterial infections
Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of cefdinir in the treatment of mild and moderate skin and soft tissue bacterial infections. Methods: 18 patients in study group were treated with cefdinir 100~200mg per oral three times a day and 18 patients in control group with cefteram pivoxil 100~200mg per oral three times a day for 7 to 14 days. Results: The cure rates and the effective rates of the two groups were 77.8%
72.7% (P>0.05) and 94.4%
88.9% (P >0.05)
respectively. The bacterial positive and eradication rates of the two groups were 83.3%
88.9% (P >0.05) and 93.3%
87.5% (P >0.05)
respectively.Sensitivity rates of 31 bacterial strains to cefdinir
cefteram pivoxil
cefixime
cefaclor
amoxacillin and ciprofloxacin were 100%
100%
67.8%
86.5%
62.3% and 66.1%
respectively.Adverse events rates of the two groups were 0.0% and 6.25%
respectively. No significant statistic difference was detected between the two groups. Conclusion: The efficacy and safty of cefdinir in the treatment of mild and moderate skin and soft tissue bacterial infections is reliable.
