P16 and cyclinD1 expression in carcinogenesis of gastric mucosa
Objective: To study the role of P16 and cyclinD1 expression in the occurrence and development of gastric carcinoma. Methods: Using S-P immunohisto-chemistry. Results: With the progressing of gastric mucosa lesions
the positive rate of P16 expression had a decreasing tendency and on the other hand
that of cyclinD1 had an increasing tendency. The positive rate of P16 in the dysplasia and gastric cancer were much lower than that in the chronic superficial gastritis (P<0.05)
and was correlated with phase and degree of differentiation of gastric cancer. That of cyclinD1 in the intestinal metaplasia, dysplasia and gastric cancer was much higher than that in the chronic superficial gastritis (P<0.05)
and was not correlated with phase and degree of differentiation of gastric cancer. Conclusion: Deletion of P16 expression and abnormality of cyclinD1 expression are early molecular events
and the former is correlated with development and malignancy of gastric carcinoma.
