Experimental study for reversion of ventricular remodeling by enalapril or fosinopril in spontaneously hypertensive rats
Objective This study observed the effects of angiotension converting enzyme inhibitor Enalapril & Fosinopril on reversion of ventricular remodeling in spontaneously hypertensive rats. Methods 18 SHRs were divided into three groups at random. enalapril
fosinopril or saline (10mg/kg/d) was injected intraperitoneally into rats of each group rat respectively. Systolic blood pressure and ventricular weight index (LVW/BW
RVW/BW) were measured. Picrosirus Red staining was used to determine cardiovascular morphology of collagen with polarization microscope and image analyzer system (IAS) to estimate interstitial collagen volume fraction (CVF). Results The effect of enalapril and fosinopril was similar in decreasing SBP
RVW/BW and CVF. Fosinopril was better than enalapril in decreasing LVW/BW (P<0.05). Conclusion Enalapril and fosinolpril lead to reversing the ventricular remodeling and improving cardiomuscular stiffness.
