Correcting congenital esotropia with recession medial rectus measured from limbus of two eyes
Objective To study the possibility of correction of severe congenital esotropia
with recession of medial rectus. Methods Recession medial rectus were used according to the measurement of the distance from limbus. The extent of recession (millimeters) is the combination of distances from insertion of medial rectus to recesess point and to limbus. Results Recession operations of two medial rectus corrected the serious esotropia of these children. After the correction
their eye positions and movements are normal and visual functions are obviously improved. Conclusion Posterior suturing alone could correct the severe congenital esotropia ( ≤100 Δ).
